All Christians promiscuously are commanded to search the Scriptures (John 5:39; Acts 17:11; 2 Tim. 3:15-17), and to give a reason for their faith (1 Peter 3:15), and to resists the authority even of legitimate church rulers when it is opposed to that of the Lord of conscience. Acts 4:19, 20.
