Reflects and is Shaped by Corporate Worship

Christian life reflects and is shaped by the basic contours of the arc of corporate worship, which moves in the rhythm of call and response:

  • calling invites coming;
  • proclamation provokes faith, prayer, and praise;
  • Eucharist grounds and enables our gratitude made manifest in offerings;
  • the peace of Christ enables us to live in peace with our neighbor; and
  • benediction frees and sends us out in love to sacrificially serve a broken and hurting world.

In this liturgical and theological conversation, God reveals himself through the calling, proclamation, Eucharist, passing of the peace, and benediction. By our union with Christ, he also joins us to Christ’s own human response of coming; of faith, prayers, and praise; of peace making; of offerings; and even of going out into the world.
